These Keto Halloumi Fries are absolutely positively our new favorite thing. The combination of flavors and textures in this recipe is, in our opinion, perfection. The crunchy exterior of the halloumi fresh out of the frying pan, the spice from serranos complimented with the taste-bud soothing cilantro mint sauce, yeah this recipe is SO good.

We think one of the reasons we personally love this recipe so much is because it combines the flavor profiles of two of our favorite cuisines from around the world. Greek and Indian, but another big reason we love it is that it’s fried cheese…how could it not be delicious?

This recipe is super simple too and gives you the option to dress yours up however you’d like. We used Indian toppings, but could you add jalapeños and guac for a Mexican twist, or keep it 100% Mediterranean and throw some olives and tzatziki on top.

We had never cooked with halloumi before we began testing this recipe. Like with any unfamiliar ingredient, we were a little nervous these wouldn’t turn out. A little extra nervous because we just spent two weeks trying to nail a keto mozzarella stick recipe. After multiple attempts/fails with the mozzarella sticks we gave up. We tried freezing the cheese, we tried baking them. We even got to the point where we were using a meat thermometer in the oil to try and find the perfect temperature to prevent melting. No matter what... the end result was the same - a melty (though delicious) mess. (UPDATE: we have now perfected a keto mozzarella stick!!, Let's all rejoice!)

The great thing about halloumi is it has a much higher melting point than your average cheese due to its molecular composition, so you don’t have to worry about a melty mess.

All you have to worry about is what to top it with and who to share it with! (or who not to share it with 😉

I'll have to try this as I've had the same issue with Mozzarella sticks, but still love the flavor. Love the Indian twist!
