How to make Keto Burger: step-by-step guide
Cooking methods
Preparation steps
- Gather all the ingredients needed for the recipe.
- Measure the ingredients precisely.
- Wash and rinse the vegetables, such as the white onion, tomatoes, and lettuce.
- Peel and mince the garlic.
- Slice the unprocessed American-style cheese.
Cooking instructions
Prepare the fry sauce
- Mix all the ingredients for the fry sauce in a small bowl or jar. Refrigerate the sauce until ready to use.
Caramelize onions
- Heat the butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat.
- Once melted, lower the heat and add the diced onions. Cook them until they turn dark golden brown, approximately 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- Once the onions are done, remove them from the skillet and set them on a plate.
Makeย an In-N-Out keto burger
- Start by portioning out 4 (2-ounce) ground beef patties. Flatten them until they are about the width of your fist. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
- Increase the heat to medium and place the burger patties in the same skillet where you caramelized onions.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
- Once you flip, brush the tops of each burger with a teaspoon of yellow mustard. Flip, then place a slice of cheese on top of two of the burgers. Cover the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes while the cheese is melting.
- Assemble the Keto Burgers - if using a bun, simply stack from the bottom up...tomato, pickle, a patty with cheese on top, the other patty, fry sauce, and onions. If using lettuce, simply do the same order and wrap in lettuce.

Chef's pro tip
For a mouthwatering keto burger, avoid overcooking the patties. Cook them for the recommended time and resist pressing with a spatula. You'll have delicious keto burger patties every time!

Sounds Delicious. My husband loves the burgers from there with a lettuce wrap. Do you happen to know a good Keto bun recipe?
Can't seem to find unprocessed American cheese slices right now....looking but maybe thinking you all would have an idea where to buy. I am in Colorado, just so you know.
I am looking forward to trying this!! My husband will love you as well....LOL...

Man, I can't wait to make this. I'm going to us Primal Kitchens spicy Kitchen. Anyways, serving says 2 using 1/2 beef. So the double is 2 2oz patties correct?
Thanks

That's correct!

Recipe really gets all those flavors of going there. We used Impossible meat as a sub as we are tired of so much meat on the diet - was great as you can't get it that way at In-n-out, sol delicious one of the best meals we had in a long time

Made these over the weekend and again tonight sans cheese (dairy free for the summer)!! Caramelized onions

OMG... I have been craving a real burger but we aren't allowed to leave our town (I live in Spain) with the COVID restrictions and you can't get a good burger anywhere around. This hit the spot and satisfied my craving! Thank you! I will be making this again and again! Kids ate with buns, the hubby with a home-made gluten free bun and I with lettuce... YUM!

These are AMAZING!! We used sliced Colby jack and added freshly sliced red onion, too. So good. Cannot wait to make it again.

Sooo good! Tastes just like real In-N-Out. I used the 0 carb buns from Aldi (L'Oven brand); their flavor and texture are the closest to "real" bread, imho.
