    Preparation and cooking overview

You only need 5 minutes to prepare this Keto Salad Dressing at home. It's a super simple one-step recipe. Just blend the ingredients — nutritional yeast, olive oil, lemon juice, and seasonings — until smooth and voilá. Drizzle the tasty dressing over your favorite salad.

    Chef's note

Only use a high-quality extra-virgin olive oil to ensure the dressing is silky smooth and loaded with healthy fats. Also, add a dash of smoked paprika if you want to add a hint of smoky flavor.

    • ⅓ cup lemon juice
    • ⅓ -¼ cup water

    Ingredient substitutions

    • Fresh lemon juice: If you don't have fresh lemons on hand, use apple cider vinegar for a similar tangy flavor.
    • Tahini: Swap tahini with almond butter for a creamy, rich dressing.
    • Olive oil: If you're out of extra-virgin olive oil, use avocado oil as a keto-friendly alternative.

    Additional ingredients

Elevate the flavors of the nutritional yeast dressing with these keto-friendly additions:

    • Dijon mustard: Add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard for a more complex flavor profile.
    • Chili flakes: If you love a bit of heat, sprinkle chili flakes when you blend the dressing.
    • Fresh herbs: Chop some fresh herbs like basil, parsley, or dill, and stir them into the dressing after you blend it.

    Chef's pro tip

Blend the dressing just until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Avoid over-blending, as it will make the texture unappetizing. And don't worry if it seems a little thin at first — it will thicken overnight in the fridge.

What to serve with nutritional yeast salad dressing?

Our nutritional yeast salad dressing is perfect for elevating even the most simple salads. Besides salads, it works with a lot of other dishes too. Here are some of our top suggestions:

    • Keto Balsamic Chicken Salad: The tanginess of our yeast dressing cuts through the smoky, grilled flavor of the chicken, making each bite a delightful experience.
    • Brussels sprouts: The nutty, caramelized flavor of Keto Brussels Sprout pairs wonderfully with the vibrant tang of the nutritional yeast dressing.
    • Barbocoa Lettuce Wraps: Drizzle our dressing over chipotle barbacoa wrapped in lettuce for a light and refreshing meal.
    • Avocado and egg salad: The richness of the avocado and egg pairs perfectly with our delicious dressing, making for a satisfying and healthy meal.
    • Fresh-cut veggies: Use the dressing as a dip for fresh-cut veggies or Roasted Veggies.

    How to make it healthier?

    • Omit the added sea salt in the mix if you're watching your sodium intake. Rely more on the savory flavors of nutritional yeast and tahini.

What can I prepare ahead of time?

    • Ensure your food processor is clean and ready to use. It's no fun to pause and clean when you're in the middle of creating your culinary masterpiece.

    Storage instructions

Refrigeration: Store the dressing in a lidded container or mason jar in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for seven days. When you're ready to use it, give it a good stir to mix up any ingredients that may have separated in the fridge.

A serving of nutritional yeast, typically about two tablespoons, contains around 5 grams of carbohydrates. However, it also contains 4 grams of fiber, which means it has only one net carb per serving.

Very tasty! Not sure how I'll like it on a salad, but it seems thick enough to use as a sauce on vegetables (instead of cheese sauce) and I'm going to use it atop my scrambled eggs, too. It also tastes great on crackers like a dip.
